To improve on the highly acclaimed Response 2.5 would have been a daunting task but for the development of a new generation of highly efficient and sensitive drive units. The faultless reproduction throughout the frequency range which made the 2.5 such a world-beater has not only been sustained but greatly intensified in the new D25. Good quality valve or Class A transistor amplifiers with an output as low as 10 watts will produce fine results from these exciting new loudspeakers. The original cabinet dimensions have been retained, but there the similarity ends. The cabinets themselves, handcrafted and finished in real wood veneers, are extremely rigid and heavily damped as before, but the introduction of a large flared port beneath the plinths gives better interaction with the listening room, making cabinet placement less critical. An entirely new 6 ý" bass/midrange driver, built by one of the UK's leading studio monitor manufacturers, is used in tandem with a radical new one inch soft dome tweeter. This combination is harmonised through a sophisticated HQC crossover network and ProAc oxygen-free wiring, delivering exceptional power handling, efficiency and sensitivity. The D25 is like a breath of fresh air, with an immediacy and dynamism which reaches out to touch the listener. The improved sensitivity squeezes every detail out of any type of recording and the classic ProAc virtues of low colouration, fine balance and sweet smoothness ensure an unforgettable listening experience at a very reasonable price level.
